Daily Scripture Threshing for Wednesday, November 18, 2020
Today’s Text: 1 Corinthians 1:17-31
Key Verses: 1 Corinthians 1:31 (KJV) — “That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.”

Why is it important for this inspired apostle to tell about the humility of Christ unto death as a means for achieving the name above all names? Why is it important for him to affirm the disclaimer that he is who he is only by the grace of Christ? Why does the theme of humility run through the testaments? Why does God resist the proud and gives more grace to the humble? It is important for all men to learn that immense spiritual blessing hides beneath universally secret of humility. The lowly are assured of acceptance, and the proud and self confident are rejected and resisted.
Both Biblical Testaments teach great virtues of poverty in spirit and meekness as commendable disposition of the kingdom. Anyone who then must be an ambassador of the Christ must learn the same humility of the one who humbled Himself unto the cross. He did not glory in the flesh for once; we should not at all. He glorified His father on the earth, and we too should glorify Him. The apostle Paul admonishes us that we must delight to abase ourselves enough to exalt Him alone in all we do. If we have anything or any reason to glory at all; it should be in the Lord.
Quote for the Day: “What do we have on earth that we are not given by God; And so how and why should we glory in what we are given and not in the one who gives us.”
Prayer: O Lord, help me to be like You; deliver me from the desire of being loved; rom the desire of being extolled; but help
Me to love others more than I. Please grant me the grace to humble myself, in Jesus' mighty name. Amen.
With all my love and prayers,
