God’s “Let” Diary (Part 144) — Let Men So Account of Us

Daily Scripture Threshing for Sunday, November 22, 2020

Today’s Text: 1 Corinthians 4:1-5

Key Verses: 1 Corinthians 4:1 (KJV) — “Let a man so account of us, as of the ministers of Christ, and stewards of the mysteries of God.

Whereas we happen to live in a generation in which fulfillment is given premium over faithfulness; St. Paul understands ministry in a different light and wants his readers to see and treat it in the same way. Ministry must be handled as a divine calling. It is a divine calling, and of course, an infinite trust. It is something that we have received not by merit but by God’s mercy. Therefore, believers in Christ, especially we who have been called Into the ministry of Christ must treasure ourselves as stewards of the mysteries of God. We have obtained a golden opportunity that presents itself with the highest responsibility.

That is why Apostle Paul, in this text, charges us to uphold the soul of our Christian duty with the sense of stewardship. And as we know: it is required of a steward that he be found faithful. Paul qualifies to lay this charge upon us because he himself exemplified such faithfulness while ministering to in Corinth. Of course, amongst them, he was sometime admired and sometimes blamed, yet; he faltered not. Even when he was accused and condemned in human judgment, he commended himself to all men in clear conscience. Therefore, he leaves us a charge that all people must be able to respect us as ministers of the gospel as a normal course rather than suspect us. That what he means when he said: “let a man so account of us, as of the ministers of Christ.” He means man in a generic sense, meaning “every one” who censures us.

Quote for the Day: “As ministers, we are under the commission of our Divine superior; and He requires faithfulness.”

Prayer: Dear Father, please help me to be faithful in your service. Deliver me from eye-service and selfish interest. Teach me to be your faithful ambassador, in Jesus' mighty name. Amen.

With all my love and prayers,
