Instant in Season

Daily Scripture Threshing for Wednesday, May 7, 2025

Today's Text: 2 Timothy 4:2

Key Verse: 2 Timothy 4:2 (NIV): "Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction."

As children of God, each one of us has a non negotiable responsibility to share His word with intense earnestness. We are God's heralds. It is our duty to announce the coming of our king in/to our age and generation. Unfortunately, many of us are exact opposite. Our lifestyle perfectly fits into what prophet Isaiah describes in his chapter 56 verse 10, when he speaks of God’s watchmen as “dumb dogs, who cannot bark, sleeping, lying down, loving to slumber.” We sleep as if our truth is not important, valid or time bound. Well, while our truth can never be out of season; non of us knows whether the only season left is now for both the preacher or hearer as both may be gone tomorrow.

That is why we are called to be instant in season or out of season. Just as a faithful servant is always ready to serve, we are called to be consistently and persistently ready to perform our duties and serve the cause of Christ, regardless of the circumstances. This requires unwavering dedication, patience, and a willingness to serve with kindness and compassion. We are soldiers of Christ. A soldier is always on alert, we must be prepared to seize all opportunities to serve and share the love of God with others, whether in favorable or challenging times. Can we wake up from our slumber and renew a deep commitment to our faith and a willingness to be Christ's ambassadors on earth?!

Action Steps: Be prepared to serve at all times, whether in season or out of season. Share the love and message of Christ with others, with patience and careful instruction. Correct, rebuke, and encourage others with kindness and compassion, as needed. Pray for unwavering dedication and readiness to serve God and others.

Quote for the Day: "We must be consistently ready to serve and share God's love with patience, kindness, and compassion, regardless of our circumstances." (Simon Olatunji #quotablequote)

Let Us Pray: Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for the opportunity to serve You and others. Help me to be instant in season, prepared to share Your love and message with others, with patience and careful instruction. Give me unwavering dedication and readiness to serve, and impact lives for Your glory — in Jesus's most glorious name. Amen.
