Learn of Me

Daily Scripture Threshing for Today, Thursday, June 25, 2026

Today’s Text: Matthew 11:25–30

Key Verse: Matthew 11:29 (ESV) — “Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”

This text comes from Jesus’ gracious invitation after He had rebuked unbelief, exposed shallow religion, and thanked the Father for revealing truth to little children rather than the self-sufficient and proud. In that setting, “Learn of Me” is not a classroom slogan but a discipleship call from the Master Teacher Himself. The One who speaks is the Lord of heaven and earth, yet He invites the weary, the burdened, and the weary-hearted to come close and discover what His heart is really like.

Our Lord is contrasting the heavy burdens of religious performance with the light yoke of His own lordship. He does not say, “Learn about me,” as though collecting facts were enough; He says, “Learn of me,” meaning receive His way, His rhythm, His humility, and His rest. His gentleness is not weakness, and His lowliness is not inferiority; it is the beauty of divine mercy expressed in human form. To learn of Christ is to discover that true greatness is found in meekness, obedience, and dependence on the Father.

This word is for every soul tired of striving, proving, and performing. Many are spiritually exhausted because they have tried to carry life in their own strength, but Jesus offers a better yoke and a better school: the school of His heart. When we learn of Him, we learn how to live under grace, how to obey without pride, how to serve without resentment, and how to rest without guilt. His rest is not the absence of responsibility; it is the peace of alignment with His will.

What then must we take home from this truth? Learn of Jesus by watching His character, obeying His word, and copying His posture of humility and trust. Let His gentleness shape your speech, His lowliness shape your ambition, and His rest shape your soul. The more you learn Christ, the less you will be driven by pressure and the more you will be led by peace.

Action Steps: Today, come honestly to Jesus with every burden, fear, and area of striving. Take His yoke by surrendering your will and receiving His way. Read the Gospels slowly and ask the Lord to teach you His heart. Practice gentleness, humility, and obedience in one area where your flesh usually resists.

Quote for the Day: “When you learn of Jesus, you discover that rest is not found in escaping duty, but in walking with the gentle Lord of your soul.” — (Simon Olatunji #quotablequotes)

Let Us Pray: Lord Jesus, I come to You tired, burdened, and in need of Your rest. Teach me to learn of You, to walk in Your gentleness, and to live under Your yoke with a humble and obedient heart. Deliver me from pride, striving, and spiritual exhaustion. Shape my life until Your peace governs my soul and Your likeness is seen in me. In Jesus’ most glorious name. Amen.
