Daily Scripture Threshing for Saturday, December 5, 2020
Today’s Text: 2 Corinthians 9:6-9
Key Verses: 2 Corinthians 9:7 (KJV) — “Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.”

As a local church pastor, the Lord has taught me what it is to raise a body of believers who are not waiting to be motivated before the could offer up to God what actually belongs to Him. Our sense of stewardship does not stem primarily from the need of the church or people; it comes from the fact that we truly belong to God, and so do all the things we have. And I’m another sense, if we truly belongs to God, and appreciate the fact that God himself is a cheerful giver, and that there is no grudging in his benevolence. He shows mercy, and delights in blessing us. He gives us all things with open hand and smiling face. While we cannot evenly reciprocate his cheerful love; we must be resolved about generosity and cheerful giving.
By tomorrow morning , being the Lord’s day, let each of us purpose in his heart to respond faithfully, cheerfully and proportionately to how much blessings of the Lord we have received. It is a lack of genuine understanding of God that has jolted this generation to a refusal of giving or the tenth of one's income to the Lord as belonging to the Old Testament. All scripture is giving by God and are profitable for doctrine. Indeed, if tithing were a duty under the Jewish law, then much more is required now under the Christian dispensation because to whom much is given, much is required. Therefore, let us all grow up in a disciplined sense of stewardship all the more as we know that all we have we owe to Him.
Quote for the Day: “Giving is a habit, and stems from the deep core of attitude. When our hands give valuable things and our unwilling hearts refuses to let go; though the hands let go, the gift is actually pulled back.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Dear Lord, please touch my heart so that I may serve honestly. Help me to be a good steward of Your grace. Let the seed that I sow be a reflection of Your love and help me to use all I have according to Your will and purpose, in Jesus name. Amen.
Let me wish you a very happy Lord’s Day with all my love and prayers,
