Daily Scripture Threshing for Tuesday, December 8, 2020
Today’s Text: Galatians 5:13-26
Key Verses: Galatians 5:25 (KJV) — “If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.”
While it is natural for a tree to produce its fruit in its season and according to its span and time of life; a good farmer still goes ahead to prune and train the branches to ensure a better harvest. When he achieves good fruit, he shelters them from cold or heat as the case may be. If he wants to keep his harvest, he must protect his fruits from pests, vermin and from wild birds or beasts. Our spiritual life functions better in a similar or same way. A good and growing Christian never thinks it is enough to rest his oars while he leaves every necessary work of grace to the inner strength sourced from the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit will do His work in leading us the way to a better and holier life. But we must personally cultivate obedience; prune sensitivity and follow His guidance each day. To alert us to this need, Paul urges us to walk in the spirit. This is a call to a deliberate life of obedience. This is more than just not ignoring the Spirit when it prompts us; but it also involves cultivating the habit and exercise of faith in the word of God; maintaining a constant conflict with adamic nature and its indwelling sin; keeping a spiritual frame of mind; and exercising all the graces of Christian life found in verses 22 and 23.
Quote for the Day: “Just living or living quickened is often a function of a personal choice between the first and the last Adam.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Lord, help me not only to talk the talk but also to walk the walk of faith, in Jesus name. Amen.
As you worship today, I wish you God’s rich blessings with all my love and prayers,
