God’s “Let” Diary (Part 161) — Let Him that is Taught in Words

Daily Scripture Threshing for Saturday, December 12, 2020

Today’s Text: Galatians 6:6-10

Key Verses: Galatians 6:6 (KJV) — “Let him that is taught in the word communicate unto him that teacheth in all good things.

Today, Apostle Paul is taking us aside on something most extraordinary. He has been a selfless, self-sustaining, sufficient and content minister of the gospel. He is not seeking gifts; but he wants believers to know that each of them are materially indebted to those who take care of them spiritually. This matter has generated heated debates in recent times; but both Old and New Testament foundations remain steadfast. God's people must take immense care of His ministers who unburden people's hearts. The work of spiritual shephardary is like undertaking a life-guard job. While physicians minister to diseased body; pastors minister to diseased body and more. They touch the soul and spirit. They enter peoples battle lines and take risks in the spirit. They tread on dangerous metaphysical grounds.

Therefore, should they not be considered worthy of receiving all good things from those they serve in these manner?! The greater message in this text is the truth is that there is the need for Chris’s followers to treat life as a seed-time; and, understand that as men sow, so also must they reap. Kind men already reap the joy that flows from each opportunity of doing good to others. Yet they reap more. But unfortunately, the stingy believer who fails the generosity test also reaps a loss of spiritual blessing; more sadly so that for every cent he fails to give the Lord, he gives the devil a dollar or more. God is not mocked, and whatever a man sows, he also reaps.

Quote for the Day: “If parishioners treat ministers welfare as though they have no concern for it, and ministers treat it as if they had no right to it; they both fail a major stewardship test.” (Simon Olatunji)

Prayer: Lord, teach our hearts to give freely without counting the cost. Let nothing in this world keep us from reflecting your generosity. Let us trust that when we are generous, you will ensure that our needs are taken care of, in Jesus name. Amen.

With all my love and prayers,

Rev Simon Wale Olatunji, PhD
