God’s “Let” Diary (Part 169) — Let Your Conversation be as it Becomes the Gospel

Daily Scripture Threshing for Monday, December 21, 2020

Today’s Text: Philippians 1:27-30

Key Verses: Philippians 1:27 (KJV) — “Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel;”

Alluding to the unionism of the faith, Paul wants each believers to live by our spiritual regulations of faith’s commonwealth. A lawyer must act in keeping with the council and board that certifies him. A doctor must do the same. And so, must any other who professes to belong to a regulated body. It is upon such understanding that the apostle perceives the Christian calling. Our practice must both align and accord with our faith profession. It is indeed regulated in the law of the spirit, and whereas we are free from bondage, none of us lives unto himself or as it seems pleasing in his own eyes any more. We are called to a level of truthfulness and faithfulness. We are expected to be peaceful and loving, gracious and humble. We are held up to a standard of regulation and expectation. Therefore our walk must be consistently the same, whether we are in the view of people of the household of faith or not.
