Daily Scripture Threshing for Friday, January 8, 2021
Today’s Text: 1 Timothy 2: 9–15
Key Verses: 1 Timothy 2:11 (KJV) — “Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection.”

It is our third part of this series, and having meditated on several examples of Hebrew women in ministry and observed how the Lord spoke through Miriam in Numbers 12:2; how Deborah judged Israel and prophesied to Barak; the ministry of Huldah to Israel, and that of prophetess Noadiah; we shall now begin to consider some women in the ministry of Jesus, and across the New Testament. At a first approach of the ministry of Christ, it is easy for one to perceive a total shift in Jesus’ approach to gender alienation or discrimination. Jesus taught women; embraced them, forgave, redeemed and sent them as part of His ministry. A look at John 4:27–30; 11:28–30; and 19:25 reveal how women served the Lord, the church, and were useful for the Great Commission.
From Luke’s account, Joanna and Susanna were wealthy women that ministered to Jesus out of their means (Luke 8:1–3). The woman at Sychar’s well was literally Jesus’ first and most successful evangelist. She brought everyone in her city out to meet the Lord. (John 4:29). Prophetess Anna was introduced as a woman who served the Lord in the temple worship and who also served as a teacher on the subject of waiting for the redemption of Jerusalem. (Luke 2:38). Mary Magdalene was the first evangelist commissioned by Jesus right outside the tomb to witness to His disciples (John 20:11-18). Phoebe was Paul’s benefactor, defender and protector. Prisca (Romans 16:5) and Lydia (Acts 16:14)’s remarkable bravery supported the gospel. Paul, also mentioned certain Mary, Tryphaena, Tryphosa, and Persis who worked hard in the Lord” (Romans 16:6, 12). Priscilla was associate leader or pastor with Aquila in the church planted by them (Romans 16:3–4). Euodia and Syntyche labored side by side with Paul in the gospel together with Clement and the rest of my fellow workers. (Phil 4:2–3). Therefore, would Paul ask women to be stopped from ministry? And should anyone stop them?
Quote for the Day: ”The command to “go ye” is from neuter pronoun indicating both the neutrality of the command as well as its all-inclusiveness.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Lord, please give us a large heart to love those you love, accept those you accept, and allow those you allow, in Jesus name. Amen.
DAY 5 OF 21 DAYS OF DOMONION: Please join our ongoing 21 Days of Operation Daniel Fasting & Prayer with daily gathering in church between 9 and 10pm CST. Use the words of 1 Kings 5:2-6 to pray, today, against any spiritual Leviathan that may want to perpetuate or is peroetuating shadows of the past.
With all my love and prayers,
