God’s “Let” Diary (Part 192) — Let Us Draw Near with a True Heart

Daily Scripture Threshing for Friday, January 22, 2021

Today’s Text: Hebrews 10:19–25

Key Verses: Hebrews 10:22 (KJV) — “Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.”

Today, after a long treatise on how the new covenant is superior to the old, we are faced with another vivid point of encouragement from the writer of Hebrews. His goal is to convincingly charge Christians to brace up confidently in living out their faith. Whereas, our knowledge of Christ should spur us to take full advantage of Christ’s sacrifice. Having been told that old covenant animal sacrifice could not change a person from the inside; having been told that all the ceremonial blood are insufficient to truly clean the conscience; no, we needed time and time again so that we are reminded that our sin remained (verses 1–4). But thanks be to God that under the new covenant, we can truly experience forgiveness of sin and a release from guilt. Therefore, we are being admonished today that, in order to live the life to which we are called, we should set aside feelings of guilt, since all of our sins are truly forgiven; and approach God boldly with a true heart.

It is true that the devil likes to, and tries to stop us from coming boldly to God. He reminds us of all our failures and shortcomings. He is our accuser before the Lord; but it is high time you stop that devil from stopping you. Throw this scripture into his ugly face. Let him know that you have full assurance of faith that your heart has been sprinkled from evil conscience. Tell that devil that your body has been washed with pure water. We do not need any more washing rituals to communicate with God as in Exodus 30:18–21. The only part you have got to play is draw near! Come! Come with a true heart. Come with assurance of faith. Come with a clear conscience. Leave every excess baggage behind. Come!

Quote for the Day: ”The blood of Jesus Christ has already made an open way to the presence of God. Whosoever will therefore may come.” (Simon Olatunji)

Prayer: O Lord, please help me to fix my gaze upon the finished works of Christ rather than my shortcomings, in Jesus name. Amen.
