God’s “Let” Diary (Part 20) — Let No Man’s Heart Fail

Daily Scripture Threshing for Tuesday, June 30, 2020

Today’s Text: 1 Samuel 17:32-47

Key Verses: 1 Samuel 17:32 (KJV): “And David said to Saul, Let no man’s heart fail because of him; thy servant will go and fight with this Philistine.”

In the ordinary course of life, we are often hard-pressed by a various sources of stress which place routine demands upon us. Sometimes they are natural, and sometimes spiritual in nature; but whichever it is, they confront and impact our hearts so badly. David faced a human Goliath; but day-by-day, we face social, economic, and spiritual Goliaths — mountains that seem unsurmountable. Israel stayed frozen at the valley before Goliath for forty days. What shall boys do when the hearts of men and kings have failed them? Have we not all also frozen before the present ravaging global pandemic?

We need the words of David, “Let no man’s heart fail,” to reecho through the ages and recall our strength from within, and resuscitate our failing hearts. Yes, there’s been no easy road-bump to navigate; but “Let no man’s heart fail!” There are burdens arising from our hearts, and terrors from the news; but we must not let our hearts fail. Goliath’s image stood there to intimidate Israel. He must know that intimidation breeds unbelief and unbelief is a spiritual cardiac arrest. It perceives nothing good or godly. But God sends David’s words across today to revive our spirit. It is a call to see the invisible hands of God; and when we do, our true source of strength will not only revive our heart, He will revile our enemies.

Quote for the Day: "Unbelief is a spiritual cardiac arrest.” (Simon Olatunji)

Prayer: Dear Lord, please give me strength when I am weak, courage when afraid, comfort when alone, hope when perplexed, and peace when I’m troubled, in Jesus name. Amen.

With all my love and prayer,
