Today’s Text: 1 Kings 8:22-61
Key Verses: 1 Kings 8:61 (KJV): “Let your heart therefore be perfect with the Lord our God, to walk in his statutes, and to keep his commandments, as at this day.”

It’s Day 2 of the new month, and we are continuing our spiritual navigation through scriptural record of the verb, “let” — especially as they call for our meditation. It is perhaps Solomon’s first official combination of priestly function with kingship. As a priest, he ascribes praise to the God for fulfilling His promises and given rest to His people. Also as priest, he showers benediction on the congregation. However he understands the relationship between blessing and personal righteousness, he exhorts them, also on one hand as a king, that the people on their part should follow the Lord with a perfect heart.
In another form, he transitioned to his kingship role in which it rests upon him to command the people to let your heart therefore be perfect with the Lord. Compelled by the duty to make sure the people know that spirituality, religiosity or quest for blessing would be but a mockery unless the people walked with God with a perfect heart. It’s important we learn this truth. The word, “let” comes to us diversely as an imperative verb. God is insisting through this text that we must let, give leave to, consent to, agree to, acquiesce in, and accede ourselves to a perfect heart with Him. There’s no better piety, and no better blessing, or way to blessings than when men pursue God with a perfect heart.
Quote for the Day: "Every Christian must maintain and exhibit the unalloyed harmony that exists between the confession of faith and conduct. We must by our lifestyle attest to the unity between Christianity and character.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Dear HeavenlyFather, help me each day so that never shall my character betray Christ, in Jesus name. Amen.
With all my love and prayer,
