God’s “Let” Diary (Part 39) — Let Us Perceive Your Works

Daily Scripture Threshing for Sunday, July 19, 2020

Today’s Text: Psalm 90:12-17

Key Verses: Psalm 90:16 (GWT): “Let us, your servants, see you work again; let our children see your glory.”

God is always more willing to manifest Himself and His mighty power on our behalf than we are ever willing, able or ready to experience. Since the Garden of Eden when we lost our full right of fellowship with Him; to the Garden of Gethsemane when Jesus made intense intercession for our propitiation; up to the moment of the sacrifice on the cross; and up till this very day, God continues to reveal His mighty works of redemption and salvation. He surrounds us with enough cosmological and existential evidences of His works. “Day after day pours forth speech; night after night displays knowledge, and there is no speech or language where their voice is not heard” (Psalm 19 1).

The construct, constancy, and commitment seen in the succession of days and nights one after another is already a clear-enough revelation of God’s providential commitment to humanity. Unfortunately, we have been age-long beclouded by selfish-myopia and blinded by sensual permissiveness. This is why God’s exertion of saving Providence among/to us are not perceived. Looking at today’s text, our generation which, though, has fallen prey to the distraction of materialism, can learn from this man of prayer, David. Let David’s prayer urge us to beg God to cause our blinding veils to fall off; and help us to see what He is doing in time. In this way, not only shall we see what He is doing through this trying pandemic season; but we shall experience His saving grave. As God’s people, from all over the world worship today — online or real time — let us pray that our generation will perceive God’s work, learn true wisdom, and be taught by the Holy Spirit: that we may all be comforted by the joy of a return to God, and to a life yielded to divine instruction.

Quote for the Day: "Shall we not return to prayer of examen — one which moves us to a daily reflection on God’s move each passing day and events of our life?!” (Simon Olatunji)

Prayer: Dear Lord, help us find divine opportunity to reflect on your works during this pandemic. Prompt us to follow you and keep us safe, in Jesus name. Amen.

With all my love and prayer,
