God’s “Let” Diary (Part 56) — Let Us Walk in the Light

Daily Scripture Threshing for Thursday, August 6 2020

Today’s Text: Isaiah 2:1-5

Key Verses: Isaiah 2:5 (KJV) — “O house of Jacob, come ye, and let us walk in the light of the Lord.

Biblical prophecies are often a double edged sword. They stroke back and forth: directly to their receiving generations, and unequivocally to future ones. Putting our generation to the test of this prophecy, we will see how, like Isaiah’s generation, we fall short of God’s expectation and ordinances. His age and ours are both guilty of similar sins — recklessness, wizardry, magic, soothsaying, whoredom, materialism and augury. And wherever these sin prevails, They are physical evidences of the rule of darkness. That is why Isaiah pictures the people both as walking and living in the land of deep darkness (Isaiah 9:2)

However, the gospel of Christ is the only way out of the power which holds men bound to darkness. Israel was forewarned during the Law and judges that to be free from darkness, he must embrace God’s program and eschew anything that has to do with lawlessness. Apostle John also tells Christians that God is light, and in Him is no darkness at all. This is the essence of Christian message. God is opposed to men’s philosophies. They make us live contrary to His laws, and put us in identification with darkness. God’s light frees our forlorn, weary and wandering souls from darkness. It helps us renounce all that it represents. Indeed, no one walks in the marvelous light of the gospel and still continue to identify with darkness. Ancient, aboriginal or modern; darkness is still darkness. All evil spring from the same source. So, whether it is the practice of witchcraft itself or Identifying with occult traditions such as Halloween, pursuance of Ill-gotten wealth and luxury — Isaiah sums all as evidence of darkness and calls on us to shun the darkness, come ye, and let us walk in the light of the Lord.

Quote for the Day: "Ancient, aboriginal or modern; darkness is still darkness. All evil spring from the same source.” (Simon Olatunji)

Prayer: O Lord, I seperate myself from all appearances of darkness that entangles men, knowingly or unknowingly, in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.

With all my love and prayer,

Rev Simon Wale Olatunji, PhD
