God’s “Let” Diary (Part 64 ) — Let the Lord Be Glorified

Today’s Text: Isaiah 66:5

Key Verses: Isaiah 66:5 (KJV) — “Hear the word of the LORD, ye that tremble at his word; Your brethren that hated you, that cast you out for my name's sake, said, Let the LORD be glorified: but he shall appear to your joy, and they shall be ashamed.”

The God we serve is the King of glory. We are confident about His glorious attribute. Moses was confident to declare that God is glorious in holiness because, in his petition, he had cried to the Lord to “show me your glory.” And God had assured him: “I will make all my goodness pass before you.” All of us have seen the goodness of God in our lives. And that’s God’s way of seeing God’s glory. God’s glory is made manifest in his goodness. And therefore, we must ascribe to Him the glory due His name — for all His goodness and mercies.

Giving God glory is not because he lacks it in anyway; ascribing Him anything of His attributes is not to improve Him or promote Him. When we give God glory, what we are doing is declaring our recognition of the superabundance of His goodness. Prophet Isaiah calls on the persecuted remnant of God’s people of his generation to hear the word of the Lord. They must give up their hypocrisy, self-righteousness, and self-exaltation but declare only the glory of God. Those who despise the word of God and deride His glory shall all be put to shame. Only those who give Him glory shall have joy.

Prayer: Dear Lord, give me a vision of who You are in all of Your splendor and glory so that I may worship You as adequate. Permeate my life with Your glory and teach me to align myself with You; in Jesus name. Amen.
