God’s “Let” Diary (Part 81) — Let Your Children Tell Their Children

Daily Scripture Threshing for Thursday, September 3, 2020

Today’s Text: Joel 1:1-4

Key Verses: Joel 1:3 (KJV) — “Tell ye your children of it, and let your children tell their children, and their children another generation.

There is a traditional, social and spiritual indisconnectable link between human generations. We like it or not, certain things are passed down naturally from previous generations: so that we are all the result, as well as a reflection, of our ancestors. But from the Shema Yisrael to the New Testament revelation, God has always made it known to Israel that tradition is not enough basis of faith and salvation. Each person must come to a personal awareness of who God is, and personally submit to His salvation and Lordship. But though it is written that “The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith;” the same scripture says, “how then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard?“

Whereas we are all looking for strangers on the street, in workplaces, in faraway Asia or Africa, or even on the internet to tell God”s good news to them while we fail in the spiritual responsibility to the love and will of God to our children. O yes, we claim that oral tradition is inaccurate and liable to distortion; but it is still the best method of education. Our failure in yielding the command to tell our children has cost the western church so much. Almost all the churches of England are empty and sold; and almost all the churches in America are half empty with only grey-headed ready to die folks. We have been paying for disregarding the instruction of God to “tell ye your children of it, and let your children tell their children, and their children another generation.”

Quote for the Day: "Any generation that fails to declare the wonders of God’s love to the generation after them already sold sends off its children from the church.” (Simon Olatunji)

Prayer: Lord, help us to return to your word. Turn us back to your ways, and fill our hearts with a new determination to tell of your love to our children and to others, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

I wish you a happy new month with all my love and prayers,
