Today’s Text: John 14:23-31
Key Verse: John 14:27 (NIV): “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”
When a man is about to die, he makes a will; and leaves a legacy for his household. When that time came for the Lord to finish His assignment on earth and depart to His glory, He, as a father, dimmed it was necessary that He leaves us a legacy that will validate our inheritance with him. So, before His ministry of earth ended, He issued us the most needed, assured, and valid testament. He needed no attorney to sign, seal, and deliver this will: for He Himself is the true and faithful witness — the God that cannot lie.
By His death on the cross, He has brought that testament into force and leaves us His peace. By the covenant of peace, our Lord works everything together for our good including making us be in league with any created things that may ordinarily unsettle us — be it inanimate things or beasts of the field — all things shall be at peace with is, and work together for our good. Friends, God's peace is not just a sense of well-being, but well-being itself. You have already been positioned for the life that supports prosperity. Being at peace always brings harmony, contentment, fulfillment, and order.
This is the life Jesus promised you. Let nothing trouble your heart. Looking back at your errors, follies, and sins will trouble you. They are already forgiven. Looking outward at this present evil world will trouble you. Jesus already overcome the world. Never you allow the enemy to jolt you into another life. The peace of Christ always breaks the wall of hostility and promotes goodwill toward all men. Therefore, walk in your promise. Find peace through Jesus. Be confident that the Lord is by your side regardless of the situation. So, you can rest your soul. Many of us know this, but not living it out. But you can decide from this day forward to embrace your peace, knowing that God is with you no matter what live gives. That devil came late; because Jesus already gives you peace.
Quote for the Day: “Christ’s peace reconciles us to God, ending the age long soul-warfare against our maker; and reconciles us to one another, sanctifying our conscience to love genuinely." (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Dear Lord God of Heaven, the God of all peace, I ask for Your peace. Please grant me the calm and tranquility that comes from You today, and at all times — in Jesus’ name. Amen.
With all my love and prayers,
Rev Simon Wale Olatunji, Ph.D.
