God’s Sun of Righteousness

Daily Scripture Threshing for Monday, April 25, 2022

Today Text: Malachi 4:1-3

Key Verse: Malachi 4:2 (NIV): “But for you who revere my name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its rays. And you will go out and frolic like well-fed calves.”

Knowing, loving and referencing God is, no doubt, man’s greatest blessing—only next to salvation. We have an assurance of God’s Sun of righteousness shining over us for living right in union with Him. We all know how the rising of the sun diffuses light to push back the darkness, and radiates heat to overcome our cold. This scripture is a promise of all that is healthy in nature as well as all the blessings of it. It is by the sun that the day rises, and flowers revive, perfume the earth, and lift up their beautiful petals. And at the same time, it is by the rising of the sun that underhanded things of earth—plants that have no depth of root—are scorched up and wither away.

We have a very pregnant promise before us today. We can rise tall, therefore, in the power of the Holy Spirit, and lift up our heads, spread our wings and deepen our roots in righteous expression of this incredible blessing. In Christ, we have the unstoppable light of a perfect sun that runs its successive journeys from shore to shore. Where others are scorched, for you a refreshing is promised. Where others burn; for you a blessing is reserved. So arise boldly today, dissipate all darkness of doubts. There is healing for all your past wounds and restoration for all your losses.

Prayer: Dear Lord, the Lord God of heaven and earth, I pray that the light of your sun will shine through me to all those who are ravaged by darkness — in Jesus’ name. Amen.
