God’s Superabounding Love

Daily Scripture Threshing for Wednesday, May 25, 2022

Today Text: Isaiah 54:6-13

Key Verse: Isaiah 54:10 (KJV): “Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed,” says the LORD, who has compassion on you.”

Mountains and hills are generally images of steadfastness and constancy because they endure, and are mostly immovable. In today’s scripture for our meditation, God is using the climactic hyperbole of mountains and hills to strengthen our assurance of His never-failing love for us despite all negative situations that surround us. He wants us to know that his love for us remains unfailing even if, and when, all the images we trust as solid, firm, and durable in this life begin to give way.

Brethren, let your faith in the faithful love of God be renewed this morning. No matter how steadfast the hills are, God’s loving-kindness and His covenant outlast them all. Hills are often symbols of impossibilities and/or difficulties. They remind us of huddles and hard times, but God is reminding us of the supremacy of His steadfast love over all situations. He wants us to know that His promises are stamped by His integrity that can never be faulted. We sometimes trust things that are temporary as lasting or those that truly last as temporary; but though our strongest earthly hopes depart, and are removed, the lovingkindness of God and His covenant of peace shall not depart.

Prayer: Dear Lord, I am willing to let you wrap Your steadfast love around me. Help me to trust You in every detail of my life. Teach me to trust Your Word as I walk daily through all kinds of moments — in Jesus’ name. Amen.
