Today’s Text: Ecclesiastes 9:7-10
Key Verse: Ecclesiastes 9:10 (NIV): “Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might, for in the realm of the dead, where you are going, there is neither working nor planning nor knowledge nor wisdom.”
I don’t think we can or should learn from the devil. All I know is that, for him, if anything is not worth doing well it is not worth doing at all. That is why when he tempts a believer to sin, he makes sure to take him as far into that sin as possible. If he convinces you that everything is about craving for mammon — the spirit and love for money — he does not stop until he makes sure your soul is totally sold for "a 30 piece" of silver, or less. While Christians frolic about in easy compromises; the devil and his cohorts are diehards in their poisonous operations. However, our Lord sets us examples of dedication to duty while on earth. It was He who said: “I must do the WORK of Him that sent me.” Also, he said: “My father is working, and I must WORK also.” I used to be a soccer player, and I understand what it means to play when halftimes are over. No winner plays with half heart.
Friends, a new month is here upon us; and it’s a new opportunity to bounce back and kick that devil out of business. It’s our new opportunity to put on all the zeal and enthusiasm we can muster in all that the Master has placed in our hands to do. This is believers' all-inclusive call to put off indolence and do both our personal duties and the work of him that sent us with all our strength. If it is in praying, we must pray hard; in the study of the word of God, we must sturdy to live it out. That’s how this scriptural command sound. It’s a new month. We must reawaken a new eagerness for God with all our hearts and soul. No half measures. Nothing halfhearted. Life’s halftime is over, and we must throw ourselves out into whatever God has called us to do. Happy new month.
Quote for the Day: “In God’s providence, it pleases Him to condition things in favor of anyone who, while working hard, depends on Him and trusts Him for everything.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Dear Lord, please ignite a fresh fire from the deepest part of my heart. Put within me a new zeal for you and all that you have put in my hands to do— in Jesus’ name. Amen.
Please enjoy your Sunday… With all my love and prayers,
Rev Simon Wale Olatunji, Ph.D.
