Our Text: Ephesians 3:14–21
Key Verses: Ephesians 3:20–21 (ESV): ”Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.”
Our aim in every faithful prayer is to enlarge our desires, dexterity and destinies. But we are always wanting more. Our desires are always deep, and our imagination lofty. If possible, we would like to touch the very throne of God while we pray—and I guess nothing can be conceived as higher; but even if we do, as far as God is concerned there’s is still deeper and higher blessings we’ve not asked or conceived, which He’s able and willing to bestow.
But who, except Him, can deliver us from our insatiable feelings whenever He pours out more or different than we ask or think. We are all like the man who once asked God for a flower and a butterfly. But whom God gave a cactus and a caterpillar instead. The man was sad and thought his prayer was not answered. Like him, we often conclude that: “well, God has so many people to care for.” But no, we just couldn’t see how He was actually giving us more.
We only need to go back after some time, like the man, to check up on the cactus and the caterpillar. We would be awestruck to find out how God turns the thorny and ugly cactus around—from it, a beautiful flower had grown. And the unsightly caterpillar had been transformed into the most beautiful butterfly. We serve the God who always does things right. His way is always the best way, even if it seems all wrong to us. If you asked God for one thing and received another, trust Him. He will give you more than what need and ask at the appropriate time. More so, what we want is not always what we need, and today’s thorn is tomorrow’s flower.
Quote for the Day: “Ephesians 3:20 is such an awesome reminder that we have boundless grace and opportunity to enlarge our desires and stretch our confidence of what we may possess and become within God’s limitless glorious riches.’” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Dear Lord, strengthen my our inmost being with power through Your Spirit to always perceive Your incredible dealing in my life, and trust you more—in Jesus name. Amen.
