Today’s Text: John 15:12-17
Key Verses: John 10:14 (NKJV): “I am the good shepherd; and I know My sheep, and am known by My own.”

A farmer had a set of twins, a boy and a girl, and named them after things around the farm. On their first day of school, the teacher asked each child their name. The boy replied, “Wagon Wheel.” But the teacher said, “I need your real name, young man,” to which the boy once again replied, “It’s Wagon Wheel, ma’am.” The teacher, in disbelief, said, “All right, young man—ssince you won’t tell me your real name, I will let the principal enroll you!” The boy turned to his twin sister and said, “Chicken Feet, she is not going to believe you, either! There are so many of us whom people will not believe if we tell them our real story. They probably know us by name, and not by need. When they match our need and story with our name, they will not believe.
Michael Smith, in his song, “I Know Your Name” submits that there’s always something about each of us that no one else can see or understand. Often, we hurt in our hearts alone and no one knows about it. Many times, we are in a multitude and yet we need, and cannot find, a friend. At times, we hide our hurts inside, and all we can do is cry out alone to God into the night. May be you are on a zone in which people celebrate your name unaware of what, on earth, you are going through. And if you told them, they would not believe. Hear what the good shepherd of your soul says: “I know my own.” In other words, I know your name. I hear every prayer you pray. As your shepherd, I am the One who brought you to this place; and I will not let you down. Jesus repeatedly uses the allegory of the Good Shepherd in the text to show the closest communion between the shepherd and the sheep. As His sheep, we are not only known by Him, but we also partake of His nature. That’s why He solemnly likens our union with Him with the union between His Father and Himself. Therefore, never fear, only believe. For He is your shepherd — the good Shepherd. He knows your name —your very needs. He knows every prayer you pray.
Quote for the Day: “Nothing could or should steer our wandering and wearied hearts than knowing that God knows and cares about us.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Dear Lord, I thank you for Your love for me. I thank you because You know my and care for my every need. All glory be to you O Lord, in Jesus' name. Amen.
With all my love and prayers,
