Today’s Text: Philippians 4:10-20
Key Verse: Philippians 4:13 (NIV): “I can do all this through him who gives me strength.”
How would you define hope? Let me suggest one: Holy optimism prevails everyday. Being in Christ is the greatest thing that can ever happen to any people. It gives you unlimited access to incredible opportunities. It opens up our opportunity to be our very best and unearth our greatest possible divine blessings. Yet, in spite of our limitless wealth of grace; many of us still continue to see scars rather than stars. We know and worship God but deny or despise the power that raised Him from the dead. While the church has been so blessed with so much optimists in Christ, there are a rather too great number of believers who still fail to claim the blessings and walk in the realm of divine possibilities. However, the faith needed by each of us to soar in Christian optimism is not automatic. It comes as a personal conviction: “I can do all things.” The world calls it optimism; but we call it hope.
In a sermon illustration, a preacher likened the body of Christ to a household of a twin boys, of which one is an optimist, and the other a pessimist. While out of His fullness have all received, we don't all respond to faith the same way. So, if you put the pessimist in a room filled with all the toys a boy could want, and allow him to enjoy life; and put the optimist in another room filled with horse manure. The pessimist still continued to be a pessimist. He complained of loneliness and saw no opportunity. Whereas, the optimist took great pleasure digging through the manure. That is how a faith-filled believer should be even when life seems to be a bunch of rubbles. We soar in the wings of faith that there had to be a performance of what God has promised. Ours is a living hope regardless of the difficulties of life. Others might be given to the futility of self struggle and frustration of failure; but that's not us; our source of hope is “Christ within.” We can turn any situation around through Him.
Quote for the Day: “Paul was often in bonds, imprisonments, and necessities; but in all, he draws strength from the fact that holy optimism prevails everyday.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Lord, touch me, and fill me with Your light and hope. Give me strength when I am weak, love when I feel forsaken, courage when I am afraid, wisdom when I feel foolish, comfort when I am alone, hope when I feel rejected, and peace when I am in turmoil, in Jesus' name. Amen.
With all my love and prayers,
Rev Simon Wale Olatunji, Ph.D.

Every platform of the world is a stage for an Optimist, no matter how rough while all are wilderness for a pessimist, no matter how decorated it could be.
