Daily Scripture Threshing for Friday, April 29, 2022

Today Text: Matthew 13:7-22

Key Verse: Psalm 66:12 (KJV): “You let people ride over our heads; we went through fire and water, but you brought us to a place of abundance.”

Look around you. You need not a spectacle to see how leaders, whom God allows over us, take us through fire and floods. It is probably the fulfillment of Isaiah 9:16: “the leaders of this people cause them to err; and they that are led of them are destroyed.” But God’s people can rejoice. Because at the end, He humbles and overthrows those who rebel against His will and people. He exalts and establishes His people and crowns them with glory. Friends, God is aware of the universal corruption. He knows about all the bloodletting abominations. But He shall not watch for long. He shall set forth His justice and visit the iniquities of our nations.

Turns your eyes upon scriptures, and you will see how God allowed the Chaldeans to take away Job's wealth to enrich themselves. The devil afflicted his body and shook off every good thing he had. God allowed that cruelty to give Job a better life at the end. In like manner, He allows cruel men to ride over our innocent heads to try our patience. But like Job’s, storms end. God leads His own out into a wealthy place. There is always a consolation after desolation; a happy deliverance after a harrowing devastation; and a concert of praise after all the concerns and pains. Only be still, and watch! Our oppressors shall all be blown away, and our land shall yet bloom again, and become a place of great abundance.
