Today’s Text: Luke 10:25-27
Key Verses: Luke 10:26 (GNT) “Jesus answered him, "What do the Scriptures say? How do you interpret them?”

I love the expression of Clarkson about the glory of the gospel, which according to him, “has made common to the multitude of mankind that which was once dimly seen by a few solitary men; ... put into the mouth of the little child that which once was stammeringly spoken by a few philosophers; ... truths which once were only found upon the summit by a few hardy climbers are the fruits which are now gathered by thousands as they walk the King's highway.” Yes, we can all tap into scriptural realm of truth and understand just what the word of God holds for us if we approach it more carefully and objectively. Today’s scripture images how many of us actually misapply scripture. Jesus, the secret of all-time revelation had to query the understanding and application of Scripture.
The Bible is God’s inspired and authoritative word, from Genesis to Revelation. It speaks to all issues of life, revealing who God is and what man should be. Unfortunately, believers handle scriptural understanding with a non-scrupulous treatment, and are unable to draw out true meaning of it. We must be weary of handling words of eternal life, and the way to it, in a careless manner. Each narrative of the inspired writing has it's own dynamic revelation and may not be handled indiscriminately other than its original context and meaning. During a trial, two lawyers argued to defend their clients. One thought he would make a great impression on the jury by quoting from the Bible. So he said concerning his opponent's client, "We have it on the highest authority that it has been said, 'All that a man has will he give for his skin.'" But the other lawyer knew the Bible better. He said, "I am very much impressed by the fact that my distinguished colleague here regards as the highest authority the one who said, 'All that a man has will he give for his skin,' when this saying comes from the mouth of the devil in Job’s story.
Interpretation is key to tapping the best out of Scripture. It does not come when the revelation is treated flippant, incidental, superficial, or supplementary. You must be deliberate to identify spiritual ideas embodied in every text. It's a big deal today that many Christians and preachers use scriptures if their meaning are contingent upon their private interpretations. Jesus had to correct this lawyer, endeavoring to use God's word to justify his interest and intentions. Bear in mind that this man, by his office and character, was an interpreter of the law. O that our interpreters of God's Word today will seek genuine understanding of the word!
Quote for the Day: God's Words are not fanciful poems so that we can toss them at will; they are eternal wisdom unveiled by God’s spirit, and unraveling the will of God.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Lord, please open up my mind to understand Your word. Open my spirit to fathom the wonderful truths of divine revelation. And above all, give me willingness to obey your truth, in Jesus' name. Amen.
With all my love and prayers,
