Daily Scripture Threshing for Thursday, May 7, 2020
Today’s Text: Matthew 14:22-33
Key Verse: Matthew 14:27 (ASV): “But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid.”
There’s no more doubts that today’s church, like Christ’s earliest disciples’ are under dark sky. The waves of our troublesome world are growing rough and adversely against us. Difficult blasts of persecution are threatening. Prophecies of troubled end of times are unfolding. We are all tossed on the waters. We, like those earliest disciples, seem spent, worn out and wearied with rowing.
But the good news is: whatever may be the tempest or temperature, we are never alone or abandoned. Our Lord always shows up even in our dim twilight and at our deepest end of the ocean. He comes quickly forHis own. He rides victoriously upon the storms. And though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, His word to us always is “Be of good cheer. It is I, be not afraid. Let this strengthen and encourage you.
Quote for the Day: "God allows time and nature to prepare and present His men to Himself, having been built with best possible qualities.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Oh God, You are our Rock and shelter when storms come our way. Please be ever near us, and keep us safe, in Jesus name. Amen.
With all my love and prayer,
Rev Simon Wale Olatunji, PhD
