Today’s Text: Romans 8:35-39
Key Verse: Romans 8:37 (AMP) — “Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors and gain an overwhelming victory through Him who loved us [so much that He died for us].”

Decades ago, when I was a leader in the Baptist Students Fellowship, a curious student asked me a notable question during a national conference Bible Study group. “Where does Satan attack people the most?” He asked. Without much thoughts, I told the class I believe it is in our minds! Years have passed over that and I remain as convinced today as I was that day. The human mind has been, and remains the devil’s assault headquarter. Whenever Satan wants to bring a person down, he makes him first believe he’s down already.
The greatest powers ever wielded by any created thing (human or animal) reside in, or originate from their mind. For instance, when a lion sees an elephant, no matter the size of the elephant, the lion’s mind tells him: “your meal.” That’s where the courage and the wit to go after the “large meal” come from. Unfortunately, what the elephant thinks in its own mind is in the contrary. In its mind, the lion is a eater. Therefore, its whole weight, mass and strength does not matter anymore as long as it is already subdued and weakened in and from its mind.
In order to understand and experience the full force of this triumphant victory which Apostle Paul here asserts as ours in union with Christ, a believer must let this mind be in him. Once a Christian fails to understand his overhauling victory over the in-exhaustive forces seen or unseen; or the devil makes him believe those things would have power over him; the next thing is that he is arrested by fear, and then his authority to triumph and dominion over them is threatened and compromised. You must know who you are to walk in your victory. David defeated Goliath twice: first in his mind, and then in his hands.
The Roman Soldiers were called by the alias “The Conquerors” because Romulus, the founder of Rome conquered all the then known world and became the world super power starting with only 300 warriors. These soldiers pride themselves with this alias and have it inscribed on their shield. It is upon this background that Paul charges believers to know that we are more than that. Yes, because though Romulus warriors lost no battles, they have nothing to correspond to the power of the victorious Christ. We are more than they. That is, in Christ, we much more conquer. However, except we know who we are, we cannot put all the enumerated foes under our feet.
Quote for the Day: “If a Christian lets Christ rule his thinking, and surrenders his mind to Christ; all the manipulation, threat, dominion of Satan fadeaway away.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Dear Lord, I praise you with all my heart. You are my shield, I take refuge in you all days of my life, and I am safe. Even though the enemy comes like a flood, Lord, you have set a standard over my life, and I always remain victorious, in Jesus's name. Amen.
With all my love and prayer,
