Learning from Jabez (Part Nine)

Daily Scripture Threshing for Today, Sunday, July 21 2019

Our Text: 1 Chronicles 4:1-10

Key Verse: 1 Chronicles 4:10 (KJV): “And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested.”

Great and manifold are the blessings available to any believer whose hope and trust is God. He does not only bless and enlarge His men, He dwells with them, and much more. He keeps His men from harm. Jabez is unlike many today, who seek protection where it may not be found. He knew only God could keep Him from harm so he will be free from pain.

Have you also trusted Jesus for protection from anything that would cause you harm? Do you truly know what you want like Jabez? And are you seeking in the right place? If yes, the God who granted Jabez’s request is able and willing to bless you, enlarge your territory, place His hands upon you, and keep you from harm so you’d be free from pain.
