Daily Scripture Threshing for Today, Friday, July 19 2019
Our Text: 1 Chronicles 4:1-10
Key Verse: 1 Chronicles 4:10 (KJV): “And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested.”
Like Job, who trust God in his depressed and trying circumstances, and believed for expansion though his children had been cut off, so that his family now was bought down to a small beginning. God promised through the mouth of Bildad says, that “Though thy beginning was small, yet thy latter end should greatly increase.” Jabez knew, understood, believed and claimed God’s promise. He cried to God to enlarge his coast; and was not disappointed.
Today, God wants you to know that whatever appears as an unpromising beginning can be changed over so that it stands among the best. His mother wrote him off: this child of sorrow would have so honourable life. But God raised him up. You too may have started out in weakness and smallness; you may be groping in darkness and sowing in tears, but if you cry to God, not only will He change your insignificant life, but He will prosper you and your cause.
Quote for the Day: “God’s favor always answers to man’s cry of desperation.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: O Lord God that answered Jabez, bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, in Jesus name. Amen.
With all my love and prayer,
