Today’s Text: Hebrews 3:15-19
Key Verses: Hebrews 3:15 (NIV): “As has just been said: “Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as you did in the rebellion.”

It’s so important to take note of landmarks on our journey through life. One crucial point on the journey of the people of Israel to their promised land was Meribah, near Rephidim in the Desert of Sin. Another name for it is Massah. It was an unforgettable post while they wandered through the deserts and wilderness. For the Jews, it was a place of testing. And among its spiritual import for us today is that life itself is a test. And whatever we do with Meribah may have great eternal impact. O yes! Meribah did have major impact in the lives of Moses and Aaron. It was on its account that the two generals of Exodus could not make it to The Promised Land. Therefore, we must watch out while we journey through life’s tempting journey.
Exodus 17 vividly featured the landmark events at that place. The people quarreled with Moses for lack of water, and Moses, in return rebuked them for testing God. This accounts for why the place was named Massah, meaning testing, and Meribah, meaning quarreling. And, to us today, Meribah speaks in many powerful ways. The miracle of water from the rock prefigured God’s greatest plan to help mankind from our fatal thirsts. Indeed, Jesus is that Rock of Ages. Meribah serves us by showing us that rather than quarrel and grumble against God, we should trust Him for the water of life. What resulted from Israel’s lack of trust in the Lord is a lesson unto us. Let us therefore quit our strifes with the Lord, and/or testing of Him. Let us learn that He gives water to all thirsty souls that ask of Him. Let us learn from Moses admonition to the Jews in Deuteronomy 6:16 where he said: “You shall not put the Lord your God to the test, as you tested Him at Massah.” Let us learn from Meribah.
Quote for the Day: “In the foolishness of worldly wisdom, it was opined that man must rebel in order to exist, but truth is, we exit true existence by rebellion.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: O Lord, I thank you for your word today. I repent for all generational transference and personal rebellion. Help me walk with you, not in strife, but in humble submission dear Lord, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
With all my love and prayers,
