Daily Scripture Threshing for Saturday, July 31, 2021
Today’s Text: Matthew 5:13-16
Key Verse: Matthew 5:16 (NKJV): “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.”

The world was in thick darkness before the star of Bethlehem, the light of the world, rose and streamed forth to dispel its darkness. Jesus declares: “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness...” He raises us to be His light-bearers: to reflect and reveal His character to the people who sit in darkness. That is what it means to be the light of the world. As reflections of the light of Christ, our attitude must reveal the person, love, sacrifice and glory of Jesus Christ to all people of the world. That is the way to let our light shine brightly. The present age depends on what it sees in and through us. They neither see nor know Jesus and His love except our character reveals Him to them. Whatever we do, say, and how we do and say them must give credence to the light we bear.
Unfortunately, little difference exist, today, between the character of the churched and the unchurched. There is as much odious pilferage and obvious dishonesty, if not more, among professing Christians as the non Christians. Our churches have become, or are becoming more and more sort of religion, which per se, is not really life changing. But God has actually called us to be reflections of His glory in the world. We are not just called to a change in belief, but to a change in behavior. It is high time we realize that character convinces the world more than confession. And light is all about character. That's why Jesus says, “Anyone who follows Me will never walk in the darkness but will have the light of life.” Therefore, it is safe to say: let your character so shine before men that they may see your good works, and give glory to your father in heaven — each passing day on earth.
Quote for the Day: “If you are truly the light of the world, then just as light discloses all things that are otherwise unseen; your life should reveal falsehood wherever found; and truth where not found.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: O Lord, give me strength to arise, and shine; let Your glory rise upon me, and let it be seen by all, in Jesus' name. Amen.
With all my love and prayers,
