Look at Us

Daily Scripture Threshing for Saturday, January 8, 2022

Today’s Text: Acts 3:4-11

Key Verse: Acts 3:4 (ESV): “And Peter directed his gaze at him, as did John, and said, “Look at us.”

Looking at this text, the questions that have agitated the hearts of countless people across generations perhaps have been: what is in the beautiful gate for us to learn? Is it an allegory of our live situations? Or, probably it is telling us that not all that appear living beautiful lives, or positioned at the beautiful places of life have their realities matching or consistent with desired or pretended beauty. The gates of Herod's temple were overlaid with gold and silver, and I guess, like it would for us, it was natural for everyone to always think silver and gold in such atmosphere. But the genuine need of man is deeper than such mundane beauty. Corinthian precious stones are cherished and attractive, but you’ve got to look away from those.

Silver and gold are costly and desired but there is a much surpassing treasure and worth in every believer that blesses and enriches far more than silver and gold. We are placed on earth as prevailer treasures. We are aromas of life. We are a blessing and not a curse. Men need to look on us: when they do, they’d see Jesus and find healing. Because we are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called us out of darkness into his wonderful light. Therefore, if more believers know their worth today, they can confidently charge the watching, waiting and forlorn men and women of this age to look at us.

Quote for the Day: “Every Christian is an image of Christ on earth, me. Should look on us and find compassion, empathy, grace and healing.” (Simon Olatunji)

Prayer: Dear Lord, let my life be the sweet smell of incense, and an aroma of life unto all peoples even as my prayers are before you m — in Jesus’ name. Amen.

With all my love and prayers,
