Today’s Text: 2 Corinthians 5:12-17
Key Verse: 2 Corinthians 5:14 (NIV): “For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died.”

Love is a powerful thing. It takes a hold of any man. It is the driving force behind all qualities admired of our Lord Jesus which made Him heal, restore and deliver the oppressed. It is love that moved Him to accomplish the work which He undertook for our redemption. Apostle Paul also said that he was overpowered, subdued, and moved by "the love of Christ." Indeed, our generation needs to know what it means to be held in the grip of this conquering love of God. We have been a lot driven by selfishness and self-interest. But is a challenge for us to follow our perfect example, Jesus Christ, who chose not to be compelled by the majesty of His power and sovereignty. He chose to despise His glory and become an ordinary man because He was compelled by a love stronger than death. For not only could death not dissuade Him, but it also could not destroy Him. In the same way, if we also are, like Him, compelled by His love, rather than being stopped by the fear and threats of death, we are energized because we know that death brings us new life.
In today's text, we see how the one thing that held great apostles like Paul to the cross and which helped them to exclude every weight that besets was the love of God. When children of God say: "The love of Christ compels us." it is unmistakable. It is a declaration that gives evidence to the fact that the Holy Spirit is given full unhindered operation in them. It is proof that the Spirit has taken over, and we are now being motivated by an uncommon zeal for God. It akes us no longer want to live unto ourselves because of the one who died for us. In effect, a person cannot be born again and filled with the Holy Spirit of promise and not get soaked by that passion. At conversion, every Christian receives this new power to love God. The Holy Spirit comes upon us and melts us into brand new witnesses to the love, life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Ask yourself, am I totally surrendered to "the love of Christ?" Am I compelled enough by it to bear fruit for God in my life?
Quote for the Day: “God’s love is so overwhelmingly beneficent so that we are so willing to be self-denying for its sake.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Lord. I am compelled by love and gratitude to share Your Word. Please help me each day to be willing to pour out myself for Your sake, in Jesus' name. Amen.
