Daily Scripture Threshing for Tuesday, May 19, 2020
Today’s Text: John 9:1-7
Key Verse: John 9:7 (ASV): Go," He told him, "wash in the Pool of Siloam" (this word means "Sent"). So the man went and washed, and came home seeing.”
From Cana of Galilee to Jordan, to Samaria and far as to the Decapolis; several events have taken place; but the wise counsel of “whatever He says unto you, do” remains valid. God’s dealings, standards and the ways He associates with people is never wavering. Through this miracles, our Lord was establishing the same truth. Miracles are a blessing, but people who seek them must pay attention to the Blesser and not the blessing.
Unfortunately, many today want the salvation, and not the Savior. Many want the Savior but not the Lord. The pool of Siloam in previous feast prefigures an emblem both of theocratic favors and Messianic blessings. Obedience was key to the blessing then, and obedience is always key to the blessing. O how it is time for our generation to begin to yield the call of the prophet: “If you are willing and obedient, you will eat the good things of the land.” (Isaiah 1:19)
Quote for the Day: "Siloam is a reminder to our self driven age that it never the way we want it. It’s our call, but its the Lord’s command.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Lord, please make me an obedient child. Help me to always listen and obey your instructions whether they look like blessings or disciplines, in Jesus name. Amen.
With all my love and prayer,
Rev Simon Wale Olatunji, PhD
