Today’s Text: Acts 2:36-47
Key Verse: Acts 2:42 (NLT): “All the believers devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, and to fellowship, and to sharing in meals (including the Lord’s Supper), and to prayer.”
Revival cannot come except, and/or until people receive the word of the Lord. When it (revival) comes, people even hunger more for the word—there cannot be spiritual dryness when God’s people hunger more in personal reading and study, and are more exposed to preaching and teaching of the word of God. The reason is simple: God's word is the bonding mechanism between Himself and His people. It is His word the inspires His fear within us. It is our greatest and most precious reward.
The Word enables and conditions us to receive the Holy Spirit and the Holy Spirit provides the strength and ability to live the Christian life faithfully and productively. People become more and more like God and encounter His presence when His Word is made alive in them through the Holy Spirit (Romans 8:13). Can you show me a believer who burns with the passion for the Word of God? I will show you one who is rooted in the fear of God—one with an unbreakable bond with God, who understands what God wants, His will, and purpose in life.
A major act of the Apostle was that all believers devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, and to fellowship; and the result was obvious—an unstoppable Spiritual growth! There is no way we will feed on the Word of God and not grow spiritually. God’s word helps us grow our faith and make progress in building a deeper relationship with God. That is revival.
And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all (Acts 4:33). That is revival. Do you hunger for God’s word? That is what you need for revival.
Quote for the Day: “The same Word that came, full of grace and truth, is the same that bestows grace in full measure upon all who hunger for Him.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Lord Jesus, Your word says in Psalm 139 that You crafts is in the hidden place in the palm of Your hand, and so we hunger and pray that Your truth will be brought to us. Fill us with Your Holy Spirit and let our lives and our relationships be renewed by the influence of Your word, and revive us—in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
With all my love and prayers,
Rev Simon Wale Olatunji, Ph.D.
