Today’s Text: Acts 2:36-47
Key Verses: Acts 2:40 (NLT): “Then Peter continued preaching for a long time, strongly urging all his listeners, “Save yourselves from this crooked generation!”
The essence, necessity and the ministry of the Church is the need to be burdened for the lost. When Jesus said, “Go into all the world and make disciples of all nations” he means to say—no retreat no surrender until the job is done. That is the heart of God, the heart of Christ, and the heart of all apostles. Peter was so inexperienced and unschooled in preaching; but take a look at his passion and burden — he preached relentlessly to make sure all his listeners are saved from their crookedness.
Today’s Church needs a revival of not only the burden of Apostle Peter, but the mind of Christ. We need pastors, teachers, evangelists, prophets and lay men and women who would immerse themselves in the right course of the Kingdom. We would seek a genuine divine revival in which our motivations are not money, materials and mammoth crowds, but more souls for the Master. Jesus’ “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light” is totally different from most interpretation today. For in the mind of Christ is the burden for souls; whereas, in the mind of many, today, is materialism.
O how we need Christians, today, who through their lives and the burden that comes with revival, would provoke conviction for sin because people can look at, or listen to them and become aware of their own sin and their lostness without Jesus. We need the right yardsticks for revival claim. If you or your church is content with letting people live without being confronted with the love of Christ, and the need to be saved, then you need revival.
Quote for the Day: “The three most important elements of revival when it comes to aaburdens for the lost are: a passion to live exemplary lives, a passion to pray often for lost people to come to salvation, and a burning desire to preach the gospel faithfully.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Lord Jesus, I pull down every stronghold of materialism that hinders us from reaching the lost for You. I come against satan and all his tactics that keep us from preparing, and the lost them from receiving the gospel. I put on your belt of truth and the breastplate of righteousness and stand with the sure-footed stability because I have the gospel of peace—in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
With all my love and prayers,
