More About Chariot Race

Daily Scripture Threshing for Thursday, March 18, 2021

Today’s Text: 1 Kings 18:41-46

Key Verse: 1 Kings 18:46 — “And the hand of the LORD was on Elijah; and he girded up his loins, and ran before Ahab to the entrance of Jezreel.’"

What do you do when you see your friends, equals, coworkers and acquaintances getting ahead of you in life?! How easy is it to stay calm, and keep trusting when you appear grounded while others around you seem to be making headway? I am convinced, by experience, that this feeling is mostly unwelcome. It is capable of leaving the strongest of men forlorn and sunken.

Are you are presently in that corner of life? Are you discouraged, weary and broken hearted? God wants you to be encouraged. He wants you to know that you are not alone. Many Christians around the world feel the same way. Some are on lonely mission mountains from where they hear testimonies of their counterparts making headway in life. Others struggle for years laboring to grow a work while others around them thrive so easily. Don't these sound like Ahab’s chariot racing on ahead of you? Of course it does! And sure it hurts.

It hurts to see people one considers weaker swiftly make their goals when despite your strength and extraordinary efforts those considered stronger are lagging behind. If this is presently you zone, God does not want you to despair. Learn from how He helped Elijah. He is able to give you power to recover your lost years; grace to run on; and speed to overtake all your forerunners. Allow God to walk you through His own pathway for you. By this, God's powerful hands is allowed upon you, you can outrun any human, political, economic and spiritual chariot.
