My Redeemer Lives

Daily Scripture Threshing for Today, Thursday, May 14, 2026

Today’s Text: Job 19:25–27

Key Verse: Job 19:25 (ESV) — “For I know that my Redeemer lives, and at the last he will stand upon the earth.”

Before us today is an charge that comes as Job answers Bildad, deep in suffering and rejected by friends. In one defiant burst of faith he declares, “I know that my Redeemer lives, and at the last he will stand upon the earth.” The Hebrew go’el means a kinsman-redeemer, someone who defends and restores lost family honor. Job, with no human advocate left, appeals to God Himself to vindicate him. The verse presents us with a perfect example that there is always a pivot point in which God turns raw despair into hope. The same text has today shaped Jewish and Christian ideas of resurrection and divine justice.

There are seasons when you must just let your faith must speak louder than pain. Job gives us one of Scripture’s most enduring declarations of hope. Surrounded by loss, misunderstanding, and suffering, he does not deny his grief, but he refuses to let it have the final word. In the center of his affliction, he anchors himself in a living Redeemer. That is not sentimental language; it is covenant confidence. Job’s circumstances were dark, but his confession was bright: his Redeemer was alive, present, and sovereign.

The context matters: Job speaks these words when he has lost his children, his health, his wealth, and even the comfort of those who should have strengthened him. Yet instead of surrendering to despair, he lifts his eyes beyond his present condition and declares that One greater than his pain still lives. The word Redeemer carries the idea of a kinsman-redeemer, one who has the right and power to rescue, restore, and vindicate. Job is saying that though his life is broken, he is not abandoned. The God who sees him in his ashes will yet stand on the earth as Judge, Restorer, and Savior.

This truth speaks directly to every believer walking through disappointment, delay, sickness, betrayal, or unanswered questions. When everything around you seems to testify against hope, the living Redeemer still speaks for you. He is not a memory, not a theory, and not a distant religious idea. He is alive, and because He lives, your future is not cancelled, your tears are not wasted, and your story is not over. The same Redeemer who upheld Job will also uphold you.

Child of God, your suffering may be real, but it is neither your master nor yiur final stop. Your Redeemer lives, and that means your pain is temporary, your vindication is certain, and your restoration is coming in God’s time. Hold on to faith when sight fails you. What God has purchased, He will not abandon. What the Redeemer has claimed, He will surely restore.

Action Steps: Today, bring your deepest burden before the Lord and confess that your Redeemer lives. Refuse to interpret your situation only by what you feel or see. Thank God in advance for His vindication, restoration, and mercy. Speak hope over your life, and let your confidence rest in the living Christ who is able to redeem every broken place.

Quote for the Day: “When your heart is pressed by pain, let your faith answer back with a most assuring, 'my Redeemer lives.'” — (Simon Olatunji #quotablequotes)

Let Us Pray: Lord, I bless You because my Redeemer lives. In every place of pain, loss, and uncertainty, strengthen my faith to trust Your living power. Vindicate me, restore what is broken, and let my hope remain anchored in You. Even in affliction, help me to confess Your goodness and rest in Your faithfulness. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
