Daily Scripture Threshing for Saturday m, August 21, 2021
Today’s Text: Psalm 84:1-12
Key Verse: Psalm 84:11 (ESV): “For the LORD God is a sun and shield; The LORD will give grace and glory; No good thing will He withhold From those who walk uprightly.”
Do you believes that God is a sun and shield to you? Do you believe that God gives grace and glory to those who walk in upright position before Him? Then, you sure believe that God will also not hold back anything good from those who walk uprightly before Him. But don't just believe that religiously. Let the reality take root in your heart of heart. We must realize that the devil also believes in those truths. Yes, he does. However, the secret of walking in the coverage prescribed by this text is receiveable when we believe that all those blessings are ours, and we truly value every opportunity to Worship God, and live justly and rightly with Him.
Friends, how much do you believe in the goodness of God? I understand that we say and sing that God is so good; but is our life a testimony to this fact? Do you feel the contentment right now that no particular good thing has been withheld from you? We must be conscious that our enemy the devil is a liar and father of lies and liars. He was a murderer from the beginning, and never abides in the truth.
Think about it: grace and glory describes the eternity of the goodness we receive of God. It is not an accident that grace comes before glory. You need to know how these two (grace and glory) are connected: He bestows all needful favor including salvation on his people in this life — that is grace. He will admit them (those who receive His grace) to glory in the world to come. One follows the other. That is why it’s important that you partake of the grace of Jesus Christ on earth so that you can also partake of His glory in heaven.
The devil attacks our hearts with so much discontentment so that we can loathe God's goodness and despise the blessings we have received as though they were nothing. There is no truth in that devil’s tricks. Don't let him convince you that you've got some good things held back. Friends, God isn't withholding anything from you. Indeed, He (God) hasn't or won't allow anything in your life which has no good eternal value. Even when your faith seems tried and weak; just watch out for the good it works out at the end. Prayer: O Lord, I am satisfied with your goodness. My hungry soul is filled to satisfaction with Your goodness. I am blessed. I do not take it for granted. Please let my life be a living witness to Your goodness, in Jesus' name. Amen.
