No More to Be Afflicted!

Daily Scripture Threshing for Wednesday, March 11 2020

Today’s Text: Nahum 1:8-15

Key Verse: Nahum 1:9 (NIV): ”Whatever you plot against the LORD, He will bring to an end. Affliction will not rise up a second time.”

Nineveh’s affliction of God’s people may be likened to anything or anyone that touches or intends to touch you today. But whatever they imagine of the God you serve, the same way in which Sennacherib’s host was trashed and trampled before Hezekiah and Nineveh, the kingdom he represents was so debased so that there was no more strength and ability to repeat their affliction—the God we serve has promised to arise for you.

You only need to rest your mind on God’s promises; never again shall the anger or affliction of anything likable to Sennacherib or the kingdom(s) they represent afflict you. No, not anymore. The dreadfulness of God’s power and anger against the wicked, and his irrevocable goodness toward his people are ever sure.
