Acts 1:4–8 (ESV)
Key Verse: Acts 1:8 (ESV) — “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses… to the end of the earth.”
Yesterday we were positioned for purpose; today heaven calls us to be poised for power. Position establishes your place, but power enables your impact. Purpose without power becomes potential without performance. God not only plants you where His purpose resides — He also empowers you to prosper where He has placed you.
To be poised means to be ready — spiritually alert, fully yielded, and inwardly empowered. When Jesus told His disciples to wait in Jerusalem, it wasn’t a delay — it was a divine download. Waiting seasons are not wasted seasons; they are power-preparation moments. The one who is poised in God’s presence soon moves with heaven’s power.
In the year in which we are promised the power to wax strong, we have a responsibility to stand firm in God's promise, and to position ourselves for power! So that in any challenge, we're not just surviving, we're waxing stronger (2 Corinthians 12:9-10). The Lord's strength empowers us to rise above, to shine brighter, and to impact our world with His glory. We're not swayed by circumstances, but anchored in His unchanging Word. With faith-filled hearts, we declare: we're poised for breakthroughs, poised for growth, and poised to demonstrate God's mighty power!
Be poised through prayer. The upper room wasn’t a place of passivity; it was filled with passionate petitions. Those who tarry in prayer carry divine power. Prayer aligns the human heart with heaven’s heartbeat. When the Spirit descended, it met a people already lifted in expectation. If you want to walk in power, kneel first in prayer. Be poised through purity. The Holy Spirit does not dwell in polluted spaces. Power flows through consecration. When hearts are refined, heaven responds. Purity doesn’t make us perfect, but it makes us usable. Before Pentecost, the disciples were purified by obedience and unified by purpose. Where there is holiness, heaven grants horsepower.
Be poised through partnership. Power is not given for isolation but for collaboration. The Spirit came upon a collective — not a celebrity. God empowers communities, not egos. When believers gather in unity, divine energy multiplies. Your partnership with others in God’s mission attracts supernatural synergy. In 2026, your fruitfulness will not depend on your natural strength, but on spiritual infilling. The same Spirit that raised Jesus is working to raise your witness. Don’t move in your own might — move in His momentum. Power flows wherever hearts are poised.
Action Steps: Today, pause and pray: “Lord, fill me again.” Reflect on your spiritual readiness for divine empowerment. Ask God to remove distractions that drain your strength and replace them with disciplines that release His Spirit. Write down your power posture — how you’ll stay poised for divine release this year.
Quote for the Day: “Purpose plants you; power propels you. When the Spirit flows, assignment grows.” — (Simon Olatunji #quotablequote)
Let Us Pray: Dear Lord Jesus, thank You for the promise of divine power. Fill me afresh with Your Spirit today. Make me a vessel of strength, a voice of truth, and a witness of Your resurrection life. Deliver me from the weariness of striving in the flesh. Help me to wait wisely, work willingly, and walk powerfully. Let Your anointing rest upon me to fulfill my purpose with grace and authority. In Your mighty name, Lord Jesus, Amen.
