Daily Scripture Threshing for Friday, September 30, 2022
Today’s Text: Genesis 13:14–18
Key Verse: Genesis 13:14–15 (ESV): “The Lord said to Abram, after Lot had separated from him, “Lift up your eyes and look from the place where you are, northward and southward and eastward and westward, for all the land that you see I will give to you and to your offspring forever.”

Vision is a man’s ability to visualize and think ahead, as well as plan the future with a wise imagination. Friends, we wield so much power when we deploy the ability to project into future determinate or indeterminate visibility or invisibility. A boy once asked Michelangelo di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni, the popular Italian sculptor, painter, architect and poet why he was working so hard on a rough useless-looking marble. Michelangelo replied that he could see a hidden beautiful angel in the rock which he was trying to set free and reveal. That effort was renowned to have become his greatest masterpiece. That’s what the power of vision does. It enables a man to see a potential masterpiece in what others overlook or consider worthless.
Never give up or joke with your vision: it’s the divine seed in you that helps you discover things within yourself which neither you nor the watching world never knew were there. Your vision is what brings out the best in you. It connects you with God’s purpose for your life. Jesus was speaking of the power of a vision when He said if the eyes be single, the whole body will be full of light. In this Abrahamic encounter with God, we find one of our earliest scriptural clues into what’s in a vision: You cannot have or become what you cannot see. And therefore, nothing could be more tragic than missing the whole point of our life’s vision. This is because the power for becoming has an eternal dimension which only connecting the realms of purpose can unlock. That’s why people who connect the realm of vision discover purpose and find their true life. And, you too can.
Quote for the Day: “As a creation of God, each man is unique and has a divine purpose—which except he finds, understands and pursues, life is empty, meaningless, and untoward.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Dear Lord, please show me Your vision for me. Help me to identify and embrace your purpose for my life and walk in them — in Jesus’ name. Amen.
