Power Over the Strong Man

Daily Scripture Threshing for Today, Sunday, April 26, 2026

Text: Mark 3:22-27; Luke 11:20-23

Key Verse: “No one can enter a strong man’s house and plunder his goods, unless he first binds the strong man. Then indeed he may plunder his house.” — Mark 3:27 (ESV)

Today’s threshing brings us to the authority of Jesus over the strong man, a vivid picture of His victory over Satan and every enslaving force that holds people in bondage. In Mark 3, the scribes accuse Jesus of casting out demons by the power of Beelzebul, but Jesus answers with holy logic: a divided kingdom cannot stand, and a stronger One has arrived to bind the oppressor. The strong man represents the devil, fully armed and guarding what he claims as his own, yet he is not matchless, because Christ is stronger.

The context matters because Jesus is not teaching a casual technique for spiritual warfare; He is revealing the meaning of His own mission. Luke 11:21-22 says that when a strong man, fully armed, guards his house, his possessions are safe, “but when one stronger than he attacks him and overcomes him, he takes away his armor in which he trusted and divides his spoil.” That stronger One is Jesus Christ, who comes not merely to visit a broken world, but to invade it, overthrow the kingdom of darkness, and recover what the enemy has stolen. Every deliverance, every healed life, every forgiven sinner is evidence that the stronger Man has entered the house.

This truth speaks directly to believers who feel surrounded by pressure, oppression, temptation, fear, or spiritual resistance. The good news is that the devil is real, but he is not ultimate; he can be bound by the authority of Jesus, and his claims over God’s people can be broken. In Christ, we do not fight for victory as though it were uncertain; we stand in victory already secured by the cross, the resurrection, and the reign of the Son of God. The strong man may intimidate, but he cannot outlast the stronger Savior.

Action Steps: Today, submit every area of bondage, fear, and oppression to the lordship of Jesus Christ. Renounce every agreement with darkness and stand on Christ’s authority over your life. Pray with confidence, not anxiety, because the stronger Man has already entered the battle. Walk through this day knowing that in Jesus, the house is being plundered, the captives are being freed, and the enemy is being defeated.

Let Us Pray: Heavenly Father, thank You for sending Jesus Christ, the stronger Man, who binds the strong man and sets captives free. I submit every hidden bondage, every oppressive force, and every area of fear or temptation to the authority of Jesus. Let Your kingdom prevail in my life, my home, my church, and my generation. Teach me to live in the triumph of Christ and to walk boldly in His victory. — in Jesus' most glorious name. Amen.
