Today’s Text: Matthew 9:36-38
Key Verse: Matthew 9:38 (KJV) — “Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.”

We have so many things to say to God in prayers. God wants us to say them. He enjoys communion with us, and wants us to pray until our joy is full. We need peace: and God wants us to believe Him for it. We need health: and it is His counsel for us. When health is lost, He wants us to trust Him for healing. All these things and many more blessings we can pray for. However, as children of God, we have got a specific prayer commission from the Lord, which most of us don't think about at all; or we simply don't like to do it. Whereas, it is paramount in the mind of God. He always wants us to do something about lost people. First, He sent us to preach the gospel of the kingdom to them. And here, in this text, He commanded us to pray the Lord of the harvest. But we don’t always pay attention to the command part of it. We neglect to see that the word “pray” in the text is imperative.
Whether you live in Africa, Asia, America or anywhere in the world, you should have thought about the overwhelming multitudes of people on earth. But have you also thought about the overwhelming number of the world’s 7.8 billion people that actually do not know Jesus? What fills your heart whenever you see a crowd: is it simply a concern about how you would have your own way among them? Or do you feel touched that they represent the ripe harvest in the mind of Christ? Today's text presents us a burden or passion of our Lord, and we should not shy away unconcerned from it. Our Lord has compassion for them, we should have compass for them. In their own eyes, they are high and elated but in Chris's eyes, they are sheep without a shepherd; harassed and helpless. Therefore, Christ, in want of genuine laborers, employs us to this vast ripe harvest. And we are to pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send even more laborers into his harvest.
Quote for the Day: “We all wants the Master to be touched by what touches us; have we asked if we are touched by what touches the Master?” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Dear Lord, please give me a burning passion for souls. Burden my heart to pray for them; and move my feet to seek the lost, in Jesus name. Amen.
With all my love and prayers,
