Retracing a Lost Landmark

Daily Scripture Threshing for Today, Tuesday, July 9, 2019

Our Text: Deuteronomy 6:1-11

Key Verse: Deuteronomy 6:7 (KJV): “And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.”

So bad today that family fun time is fast losing its place; but it’s even worse when you think of family devotion. That’s a heritage that may have completely lost it’s plac. But God cares about this landmark. He gives us a vivid instruction on daily instruction and devotion, leaving no reason or occasion for excuses.

God sees our age ahead, and makes no room for blaming our negligence on hustle and bustle of life. He wants us to give careful thoughts to devotion and instruction though life happens to us so fast. He knows we often forget the things that are most important in life, therefore, He commands us to make room in all situations and position—no matter the case: whether it is when we are sitting, or walking, or lying down, or getting the children up; we must instruct them about my Word. This is a call to bring back the heritage which help us and our children understand that busyness or business must never get in the way of Christ-centered conversations and devotion.

Prayer: Dear Lord, to restore unbroken devotion to Your Word with due diligence, reverence and commitment—in Jesus name. Amen.
