Season, Time and Purpose

Daily Scripture Threshing for Sunday, November 5, 2023

Today’s Text: Ecclesiastes 3:1-11

Key Verse: Ecclesiastes 3:1 (NKJV): “To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven.”

When King David’s son Solomon was writing the book of Ecclesiastes; though the Bible says he was the wisest man to live, and that’s beside Jesus, yet he did not realize what big of a deal he was scripting for timeless generations. Human life is made up of many different seasons—not winter, spring, summer, and autumn in the West, or the two seasons—the wet and the dry seasons—in the tropical region. Different seasons of life bring different emotions and different responsibilities.

The Lord created these seasons to shape us, help us take charge of His create world and have dominion, and to help us evolve into His intended purpose for us. God uses seasons to show us His goodness and to “make everything beautiful” in keeping with purpose (verse 11). He uses them, good and bad, hot or cold, wet or dry, to capture our hearts and faith.

He changes seasons of our lives when He's ready to change something about us. Whatever season you are right now, God wants you to trust Him. Remember  how He took the children of Israel through different seasons; remember prophets of old; and remember how God has always kept His promises to you. He makes things beautiful in His time.

Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for Your word for me today. I recognize how you work out all seasons for my good. Please bless me Lord with great spiritual atmosphere. Send your great sunshine, warmth and cool winds to my life — in Jesus’ name. Amen.
