Today’s Text: 2 Kings 9:14-37
Key Verse: 2 Kings 9:30 (ESV): “When Jehu came to Jezreel, Jezebel heard of it. And she painted her eyes and adorned her head and looked out of the window..”

You agree Jezebel has become a symbol of evil when she had a World War II missile named after her. She was such a wicked villain who—despite coming so close to grace by virtue of marrying a king of Northern Israel—did more evil. She twisted every plan and thwarted every value till she turned Ahab to be just as evil. She saw men who loved God and righteousness as enemies to be murdered; and by her wickedness caused the heart of God’s prophet, Elijah to melt. Jezebel had a chance to be the best of women in Bible history. She could be a better heroic fighter than Deborah, a more devoted sister than Miriam, and a far more cherished wife than Ruth; but she chose to be otherwise, and even made herself worse than any other member of Bible’s company of bad girls like Mrs. Potiphar and Samson’s Delilah.
You know you’re just like Jezebel if and when you see God’s people through a jealous, wicked and adulterous eyes, and seek to lure them into idolatry, sin of adultery and wicked schemes. If you saw men in the eyes of Jesus rather than those of Jezebel, you would "put your sword back in its place," as Jesus said. You would have known that "all who draw the sword will die by the sword.” And thus died Jezebel, who had shed much blood, and rejoiced in it. She tried to seduce one more time, but got a wrong man of God, her blood was now spattered on the wall and on the horses, and leaked by dogs according to prophecy. This is a warning for all, men or women, to desist and repent from haughty, wicked and domineering lifestyle.
Quote for the Day: "To learn how God’s word has been fulfilled with ghastly literalness in the past is enough wisdom for men to flee the wrath to come.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Lord, I want to glorify You in my body so keep me from Satan’s plot to make me impure and immodest. And take away the evil of wickedness and self glorification from me, in Jesus name. Amen.
With all my love and prayer,
