Seek My face

Daily Scripture Threshing for Sunday, December 17, 2023

Today’s Text: Psalm 27:1-14

Key Verse: Psalm 27:8 (NKJV): “When You said, “Seek My face,” My heart said to You, “Your face, Lord, I will seek.”

It’s so very important we take a look at our journey with Jesus; especially thinking about how inconsistent we are sometimes about our intimacy with Him—times in our day-to-day walk with Jesus, when we don’t seem as close to him. Times when we let our busyness, pursuit of daily bread, existential choices, and slackness in faith all impact our relationship with Him.

We can learn from the Psalmist’s heart for a close and dynamic relationship with God. His willingness to yield when God says “seek ye my face” can help us chat a different path for ourselves also. Friends, times are hard and each day brings new obstacle to us; but we can’t afford to pull away from Jesus. The devil bombards us so that our faith will disintegrate when we need it the most.

Let us grow daily in seeking the Lord’s face through His Word, and find hope. He is the Messiah, the Son of the living God. Even if you have been experiencing an up-and-down relationship with the Lord: so that sometimes you have an accurate picture of the Savior, and other times you lack discernment; if only you can respond: “Your face, Lord, I will seek,” when says, “Seek My face.” James 4:8 admonishes us to “draw near to God, and he will draw near to you.”

Quote for the Day: The Bible is man’s index finger when it comes to finding and following God. It shows us exactly what to do to seek God’s face and find Him.

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, You are inviting me into a depth of relationship with You that my heart is truly craving. Empower me, Holy Spirit, to set other things aside so I can experience closeness with You — in Jesus’ name. Amen.
