Seek the Blessing

Daily Scripture Threshing for Thursday, August 19, 2021

Today’s Text: Proverbs 10:20-22

Key Verse: Proverbs 10:22 (NIV): “The blessing of the LORD brings wealth, without painful toil for it.

We all seek God's blessings; don't we?! We pray to God and ask to be held in good favor. We seek high regard and desire the highest good. Knowing and following Jesus Christ is a sure way to limitless blessings in our lives. Seeking Him is seeking the blessings. For instance, He is the wisdom of God; and wisdom is one blessing that most people miss today. But it is just one small blessing available to us in Jesus Christ our Lord. When we seek Him, He confers the grace to grow greater awareness and understanding of ourselves and the discretion to deal prudently in our world. That's a blessing. We despise the blessing of service, being able to give and serve others. Whereas some people would, but are not able to serve. Sometimes, we have a false sense of personal security that we assume everything is going to be okay in difficult times; but we got back almost disappointed but for the help of God that often appears to help us eventually make it safely through. That is the moment we realize that protection is a blessing.

All these, and many more, this wisdom teacher says are blessings from Lord. Every good thing comes from the Lord, the father of light, in whom there is no variableness nor shadow of turning. Rest and peace come from Him. Wealth and abundance come from Him. Good home and lovely offsprings, and several other blessings come from Jesus Christ. Therefore, knowing and following Him is the blessing. When we first seek and follow Jesus, all other blessings are added unto us. We must always bear the import of His admonition to seek first His kingdom in mind. He owns all the silver and the gold, and He gives them to whomsoever He will. He rules in the highest heavens and reaches down to the minutest details of the least of us. He is our blessing, and it is He that we must all seek. Work to be paid good money, but seek first the kingdom of God. Gather your few sticks for the only trusted meal or means, but first prepare a place for God in your heart, house, and hassles. And that meal.or.means will invariably receive the touch of blessing so that it does not cease or fail.

Quote for the Day: “The god of this world gives false riches that yield many sorrows; for only God can give riches without adding no sorrow with it.” (Simon Olatunji)

Prayer: O Lord, You who give favor, guidance, and blessings to those who seek You. Unto You do I pray this day on behalf of my families, friends, and self. Please place Your hands of blessings on us, in Jesus' name. Amen.

With all my love and prayers,

Rev Simon Wale Olatunji, Ph.D.
