Today’s Text: 1 Chronicles 4:1-10
Key Verse: 1 Chronicles 4:10 (KJV): “And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested.”

Jesus presented us the greatest prayer model of all time: He taught us how to pray God’s will into life. And here is another fantastic model of praying God’s way in God’s word. No doubt, God wants us to pray for the right things. Praying amiss makes us miss real things. Solomon was blessed for praying for the right thing. Jesus our Lord, Himself, during the days of His flesh prayed for the will of God. We must pray for the things God would rather give — things consistent with His will. And of course, true blessings are from God and are His will for us.
The idea of “Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed” is connecting the blessing of His covenant for us. That’s what Jabez pleaded for earnestly. And this is the kind of prayer that God loves to answer. We seek different blessings that are not blessing "indeed.” Whereas it always gives God joy to dazzle His children with true blessings. Jabez was aware of this, and tapped into it. Therefore he has become an example to us on how to seek, not those blessings that do not abide, but true blessing from God.
Some gifts get to us, from efforts, struggles and from men, which are not real blessings. Real blessings are blessings indeed. They are divinely given, permanent and abiding; adding no sorrow. Instead, they remove sorrows. If the blessing is from God. It is blessing indeed. You will need not service any sacrifice. You will need not sell your peace or soul to Satan. They take sorrows out of the equation. They come in any way or shape—spiritual, physical, emotional or material—and whichever way they come, they are blessings indeed; to all God’s children indeed, who continue in His Word.
Quote for the Day: “When we cry to God the very fireworks of family, friends or foes that seemed to seal our doom turns into means of our deliverance.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Dear Lord, teach me to submit my will to You and pour out my heart to You like Jabez. Help me to experience how you turn people’s frustrations into fascination — in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.
With all my love and prayers,
